Housing

The CASEWV Housing program provides safe and affordable housing options through our affordable rental properties, by packaging USDA Rural Development Direct mortgage loans and Home Repair loans and grants. The Housing program is always looking for new ways to provide affordable housing units or make affordable improvements or repairs to your home.

Loan and Mortgage Packaging

CASEWV is now packaging USDA Rural Development 502 Direct Mortgage loans and 504 Home Repair loans and grants. As a loan packager, CASEWV collects all the necessary documentation to be considered for the specific loan product and submits it to the Rural Development office or Packager Intermediary. By working with CASEWV, instead of directly with the local Rural Development office, you’ll be provided with a more hands on experience. CASEWV can help you understand the complex requirements and processes necessary in becoming a homeowner or obtaining funds to make repairs to the home you own.

o 502 Direct Mortgage loans are available to income eligible families and individuals who also meet the credit and current housing requirements.

o 504 Home repair loans are available to income and credit eligible homeowners. There is no age limit to apply for home repair funds. If you’re a homeowner who’s 62 or older, you may also apply for grant funds to make home repairs. In most cases there will always be a minimum $1000 loan. This loan usually does not require a lien on the property, however, if the need for repairs is extensive and costly, a lien may be required.

At this time, the Housing Program is not packaging loan applications for Home Mortgage and Home Repair Programs. If you’re in need of home repair, or interested in buying a home, please contact the the local USDA Rural Development office at 681-220-5766.

CASEWV secures funding for home repairs in Monroe County

Community Action of South Eastern West Virginia, Inc. (CASEWV), is happy to announce that we’ve been awarded $335,680 from FHLB Pittsburgh through their 2024 Affordable Housing Program. James King, president of The Bank of Monroe, submitted the grant application on our behalf as the FHLB member bank. All funds will be utilized to make needed repairs to twelve homes in Monroe County and includes repair and administrative costs. Michelle Dalton, Housing Director for CASEWV and native of Monroe County, conducted surveys over several weeks this summer to obtain information on the housing needs within the county. This survey was an integral part of the funding application, and we appreciate those who took the time to participate and our community partners who helped in this process. The twelve homeowners will be selected from those surveys, as well as from our existing waiting list. We plan to use local, licensed contractors and information on submitting bids will be forthcoming.
